Head Assembly
Now that all of the parts for the head have been made, we will go ahead and assemble the head
before we begin the body work.
We will start by sewing together the main pieces that make up the head, then sew on any
additional features that you would like to use for customization.
Now for the horns and extra optional features! You can add as many horns, spikes, and fins to
your dragon head as you want!
- Sew the Horns to the top of the head. You can point them in any direction!
Before we attach the eyebrows, we will make and apply the eyes to the head.
- Make the eyes by cutting out these shapes from craft felt. They can be applied with hot glue or
a felting needle. (If you prefer to use roving wool, there is a separate felting guide PDF included
with this pattern).
- Attach the eyebrows. The eyebrows shown in the finished photos have been applied with hot
glue so that the edges of the eyebrows have a raised edge appearance. The eyebrows can be
placed in different ways to give the baby dragon different expressions!

Forming the Upper Body
To Form the Upper Body we are going to crochet the legs and lower body together, making them
into one piece.
To begin this process, take both of the front legs and align them to the front side of the body
with the toes pointed forward. See the images below for guidance.
Front/Top-Down View
Forming the Upper Body Continued…
We will first start by sewing a portion of each of the front legs to a portion of the lower body
piece.
Let’s start by planning out stitch placement. Using stitch markers for this is recommended.
Make sure the toes are pointed forward. Now for each front leg, we are going to sew through
exactly 6 stitches on the leg and 6 stitches on the body. There should be 8 stitches in between the
legs. Stitch markers can be used to hold the legs to the body while planning stitch placement.
More guidance is shown below…
Now we are going to continue to crochet around
both the body and the legs to form them into one
piece.
Place your hook back into the last stitch of the last
round we made on the body and work in the round
around both the lower body and legs.
We will call this Round 20 (because the next round
for the legs would be Round 20). If you need to
check which round you are on, count from the
bottom of the front leg up.
Body Parts
Upper Body
*note: there should be 14 free stitches on each front leg and 30 free stitches on the lower body,
giving us a total of 58 stitches for Round 20. (14+14+30=58)

Assemble the Wings
To assemble the wings we will be using 18 gauge stem wire/ modeling wire to give the wings
support.
**NOTE: If this amigurumi piece is to be given to a child, please DO NOT use wire as it can be a
safety hazard. Instead, stuff the wing arms so that they are firm.
Use the provided pictures of the finished Baby Dragon as a visual aid to help guide you in the
assembly process.
So far you should have:
-A finished head
-A torso with front legs attached
- 2 thighs
-2 back feet with toes attached
-1 tail
-1 tail barb -or- 2 tail fins
-2 assembled wings
-1 belly piece
Sew the open bottom of the head to
the open top of the torso.
Sew the belly piece to the front of the
torso. Place a small amount of stuffing
under the chest area, if needed. Row 1 of
the belly piece should be placed just under
where the head is sewn to the body.
Assembly
3. Sew the Tail Barb -or- Fins to the
end of the tail.
- Sew the Tail to the lower backside
of the body. - Sew the Thighs to the sides of the
lower body. Note that the side of the
thigh with hdc’s will be pointed towards
the back of the body. - Sew each foot to the open end of
the thigh. (Toes should be already
sewed to the foot)
- Insert the wire from the wings into the
back of the upper torso. They can be placed
approximately 8 to 9 rows below where the
head meets the body. Sew the wing arms
into place.
