Approx = Approximately
Beg = Beginning
Ch = Chain(s)
PM = Place marker

Sc2tog = Draw up a loop in each of next 2 stitches. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook.
Sc = Single crochet
Sl st = Slip stitch
Sp(s) = Space(s)

Yoh = Yarn over hook

MATERIALS

Bernat® Baby Blanket™ (10.5 oz/300 g; 220 yds/201 m) Main Color (MC) Blueberry Sprinkles (04870) Contrast A Country Blue (04859) 2 balls or 280 yds/256 m 1 ball or 60 yds/55 m Size U.S. L/11 (8 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Stuffing. Stitch markers. 39″ [100 cm] length of smooth black yarn.

MEASUREMENTS

Approx 18″ [46 cm] long x 12″ [30.5 cm] tall.

GAUGE

7 sc and 8 rows = 4″ [10 cm].

INSTRUCTIONS

Note: Join all rnds with sl st to f irst sc.

TAIL

With MC, ch 13. 1st row: (2 dc. Ch 2. Sl st) all in 4th ch from hook. 1 sc in each of next 8 ch. Do not fasten off. 1 ch remains.

BODY

1st rnd: 6 sc in last ch of tail. Join with sl st to first sc of 6 sc in last ch. 6 sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join. 12 sc.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in next sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join. 18 sc.
4th rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 2 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join. 24 sc.
5th rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 3 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join. 30 sc.
6th rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 4 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join. 36 sc.
7th rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 5 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join. 42 sc.

Stuff Body firmly.
Next rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Sc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 24 sts.
Next rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 18 sts.
Next rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in next sc. Sc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 12 sts. Do not fasten off.

TRUNK

1st rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join. 12 sc. Rep 1st rnd until Trunk measures 6″ [15 cm]. Stuff Trunk firmly as you go. Break MC, join A.
Next rnd: With A, ch 1. Working in back loops only, (Sc2tog) 6 times. Join. Fasten off leaving long end. Draw end tightly through rem 6 sts. Fold back 3″ [7.5 cm] of Trunk and sew into place as shown in photo.

FEET

(make 4) With A, ch 2.
1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. 6 sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join. 12 sc.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in next sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Break A, join with MC. 18 sc.
4th rnd: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc around. Join.
5th and 6th rnds: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join. Fasten off. Sew Feet to Body as shown in photo.

LEFT EAR

Front and Back (make 1 each with MC and A) Ch 7.
1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. PM on sc just worked. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 6 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. 7 sc.
3rd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 7 sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn. 8 sc.
4th row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. 9 sc.
5th to 11th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
12th row: Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. 8 sts.
13th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. PM on sc just worked. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Sc2tog. 7 sts. Fasten off.
Hold Front and Back Ears tog with straight edge at right side. Join MC with sl st through sts marked by st markers at top of straight edge. 1st row: Ch 1. Working through both thicknesses, sc evenly around shaped edges to 2nd set of st markers. Remove markers. Fasten off. Sew Left Ear to left side of head as shown in photo.

RIGHT EAR

Front and Back (make 1 each with MC and A) Ch 7.
1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. PM on sc just worked. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. PM on last sc. Turn. 6 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn. 7 sc. 3rd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. 8 sc.
4th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn. 9 sc.
5th to 11th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
12th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Sc2tog. Turn. 8 sts.
13th row: Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. PM on last st. 7 sts. Fasten off. Hold Front and Back Ears tog with straight edge at left side. Join MC with sl st through marked sts at bottom of straight edge. 1st row: Ch 1. Working through both thicknesses, sc evenly around shaped edges to 2nd set of st markers. Remove markers. Fasten off.
Sew Right Ear to right side of head as shown in photo.
Using length of smooth black yarn and satin stitch, embroider eyes and eyebrows as shown in photo.
